lets get to it!

IMG_8067

what you will need:

IMG_7870

* pots

* gold leaf sheets

* paint or spray paint (im using spray paint)

* washi tape or painters tape

* pot sealer

* paint brush

* glue (sorry I didn’t include in picture, I just used a glue stick)

try to avoid using PVA glue because it contains water which will soak the gold leaf.

1)

IMG_7929

Start off by sealing your pots (in the inside) so that water the pot doesn’t absorb the water when you water your plant.

You can get pot sealer from any hardware store. You can follow the instruction on the process of the pot sealing on the can!

2)

IMG_7947

* After you have sealed the pots it is time to paint your pots. I am using spray paints that you can again get

from any hardware. I spray pained the insides of the pots first then I let it sit for the time required and then

spray painted the outsides next and again left it for the time required!

* After the outside of the pot dried I did a quick and light second coat just to make sure a didn’t miss any spots.

Then let it dry!

3)

Make sure your pots are completely dry before you start applying the gold leafs.

4)

IMG_8041

Apply washi tape or painters tape around the section you want to apply the gold leaf.

I put the tape is the shape of a triangle! Feel free to do any patters or shape you want!

5)

IMG_8042

Apply a thin layer of glue the inner shape so that you gold leaf has something to stick to!

Make sure to glue everywhere in the inner shape!

6)

IMG_8049

Very very carefully place your gold leaf onto of the glued area and the lightly with you fingers dab the gold leaf

just to make sure the gold leaf is down. it will also create this really pretty effect that we want!

NOTE: gold leaf is very delicate and can be very hard to work with.

7)

IMG_8051

Once you have left a reasonable amount of time for the gold leaf to dry (approx. 15 Р20 minutes)

Very gently and carefully begin to tear the tape starting from the top (try to do this very slowly)

IMG_8055

8)

IMG_8063

Now you should be done with the gold leaf!

The gold leaf leaves a beautiful effect and gives the pot a little something more!

4) With your scissors cut curved or pointed edges! I chose to do curved edges.

IMG_7407

5) Open your wings so it looks like a butterfly.

IMG_7408

6) Start with one side and gently pull 1 layer at a time towards the middle. Remember you have to pull it to the centre on the other side as well. And since you have 8 sheets you can pull 4 to one side and 4 to another.

IMG_7409IMG_7410IMG_7411

7) Once you have completed both sides, you can shape it to complete the look! then with the sting you can hang it off you celling with the sting you attached.¬†This looks really good with other pom poms in different colours and you also don’t have to do it one colour you can put coordinate the sheets of tissue paper to make a multicolour pom pom!
